Russian ambassador: Dmitry Medvedev’s visit showed strategic partnership with Azerbaijan is real

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev’s visit to Azerbaijan showed that strategic partnership between Russia and Azerbaijan is not just a formula, but it really reflects core of Russia-Azerbaijan ties.

“This is not just words, but measures to meet the specific interests of people of Azerbaijan and Russia,” Russian ambassador  to Azerbaijan Dorokhin said Thursday at a briefing to the press following the official visit of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to Azerbaijan.
 
The Russian ambassador expressed his satisfaction with the working visit of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to Azerbaijan.
 
‘The main outcome of the Russian President’s visit to Azerbaijan is to reach principle agreements  on several issues important for bboth sides and ensure promotion of relations in a spirit of partnership and good neighborly relations,” he said.
 
As a result of Russian President’s visit to Baku, Azerbaijan and Russia signed a joint declaration on the Caspian Sea, as well as the Joint Statement on the basic principles of completing the delimitation of state borders and distribution of water resources of the Samur River between the countries.

Also, in the presence of the presidents of the two countries' Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Russia Elmar Mammadyarov and Sergei Lavrov signed a joint statement on the preparation of the Intergovernmental Agreement on the terms of establishing and maintaining diplomatic missions in Azerbaijan and Russia as well as an agreement on trade, economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation between the governments of Kabardino-Balkaria and Azerbaijan.

In addition, SOCAR and Gazprom signed agreement on purchase of 500 million cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas at $350 for 1,000 cubic meters.
