The United Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan does not consider that reduction in the number of municipalities will improve their work, said deputy chairman of the party Elchin Mirzabeyli.

He said reduction in the number of municipalities might create definite problems on the spots.
"It is necessary to define the status of local self-government bodies. The party speaks for creation of municipalities in big cities. In particular, there is a need to create the Baku and Ganja big city municipalities and present them the due powers.
The party has its proposals in connection with expansion of the powers of municipalities", noted Mirzabeyli.
Notably, the party is chaired by MP Gudrat Hasanquliyev.
