Political scientist: Millennium challenges ceased financial support to Armenia due to resentment over Sargsyan's regime in Karabakh settlement context

12 June 2009 [14:20] - TODAY.AZ
"The Millenium Challenges Corporation allocates money, considering respect for human rights, democracy and good governance", said famous political scientist Rasim Musabekov, commenting on information and US corporation "Millenium Challenges" stops financing Armenia.
"If by these parameters the country does not meet certain criteria, aid under the program is stopped to it", he said.

"When you hold your opponents in jail, (ie those arrested during presidential elections), where in addition to that you eliminate a commission of inquiry, instead of taking into who fired and why fired, it in fact means the response: I do it good to kill! Naturally, the US Democratic Party could not accept it, as the lobby influence of Armenians is strong there", said the famous political scientist

"And in general U.S. administration was inclined to the idea to renew the program in Armenia, taking into account the truly difficult economic situation of the country, because it's a free program. Armenia has been allocated over 230 million dollars - to build roads in rural areas, and on something else. These are actually free investments in Armenia. And they stop it because the regime in Armenia act in a way that even the US democratic administration could not help reacting on this", noted he.

"I think this was in a sense the message regarding the US resentment over the internal repressive policy of the Sargsyan regime. I think this is also the indicator of resentment over Sargsyan's regime in the context of the Karabakh conflict settlement", concluded Musabeyov.
