Armenian politician: Armenia can not be an independent state unless the Armenian-Azerbaijani and Armenian-Turkish relations are settled

05 June 2009 [16:55] - TODAY.AZ
Suren Surenyants, representative of the Armenian National Congress, member of the political board of the Republic party said during the press conference that the "Karabakh issue will not be settled unless the public in Yerevan and Baku rejects the formulation "Karabakh is ours".
"Armenia can not become an independent state, unless the Armenian-Azerbaijan and Armenian-Turkish relations are settled. Armenia has no resources to survive in the established situation. Our country needs economic development", said Surenyants. He is confident that the issue can be settled only in the presence of mutual concessions.

He believes that if necessary Armenian side should return the occupied territories and get the security guarantees instead.

Asked who will guarantee the security, Surenyants said that the document signed between Armenia and Azerbaijan about return of territories will ensure guarantee of "NKR" security.

"This document might ensure the security of "NKR" more stably than the force and strained situation", noted he.
