The main topic of talks between the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and President of Russia Dmitri Medvedev in Moscow will be the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno Karabakh, said Arif Yunusov, chief of department of conflict studies of the Institute of Peace and Democracy.

According to him, it is also clear that the visit of Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan is a logical continuation of Russia's attempt to attain maximal rapprochement of the parties in the resolution of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno Karabakh.
"It is obvious that Azerbaijan and Armenia have already reached the point that would either be followed by a serious breakthrough or a disastrous failure in the resolution of the Karabakh conflict. I am personally pessimistic about the prospect of serious breakthrough, said he.
Yunusov explained this by saying that first of all he is not sure Russia has set the task to attain the final and comprehensive resolution of the Karabakh conflict.
"Moreover, I think we are extremely exaggerating Russia's influence on Armenia. Certainly, it really exists, but it is not so great as we imagine. I do not also agree with the opinion common in Azerbaijan that the key to the solution of the Karabakh conflict lies in the Kremlin", noted Yunusov.
He mentioned that it is extremely difficult for the Nagorno Karabakh Armenia to understand whether it is economically profitable or not to live within Azerbaijan because they have no chance to come to our country and respond to this question in the established conditions.
"Moreover, we should not forget the factor of historical memory of Armenians. In other words, even if Armenians believe that serious economic processes occur in Azerbaijan, they are not sure in the guarantees of security that is promised by official Baku. And in these conditions, the humiliation of Armenians in local mass medias that are watched and read by Armenians, play a role of antipropaganda.
