Matthew Bryza arrives in Azerbaijan - UPDATED

US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair Matthew Bryza arrived in Baku on Wednesday, diplomatic sources told APA.

Bryza told journalists at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport that his visit related to the Nagorno Karabakh talks, APA reports.

The US diplomat said he would continue discussions over the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict at his meetings with the Azerbaijani officials.

Bryza said he hoped the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs would visit the region in a week.

Regarding the reports on the opening of Turkey-Armenia borders, Matthew Bryza said: “I can’t value anything because the talks will continue. My duty is to stimulate the settlement process of the conflict”.

After his meetings with the Azerbaijani officials, the US diplomat will leave for Georgia on April 17. He will learn the political situation in Georgia.

The OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs expected to visit the region on April 20-22.

US Deputy assistant secretary of state, OSCE Minsk Group co-chair Matthew Bryza is to arrive in Baku, Wednesday.

Bryza will discuss the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh problem with the Azerbaijani leadership on April 16. He will leave for Georgia on April 17. According to APA Georgian bureau, Bryza will be familiarized with the political situation in Georgia. U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan confirmed the Bryza’s visit.

The OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs said they would visit the region on April 20-22.
