Latvian ambassador to Azerbaijan: Financial crisis has not affected the trade and economic relations between our countries

15 April 2009 [09:12] - TODAY.AZ
It is a pleasure to note that at least now the financial crisis has not affected the trade and economic relations between Azerbaijan and Latvia, said ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Latvia in Azerbaijan Mikhails Popsovs before the visit of the Latvian Foreign Minister to Azerbaijan.

According to him, the trade between the countries is growing.

"As for the investment projects, you know that the investment activity is declining in the world. This occurs in my country and is explained by the consequences of the financial crisis in the world. But we are optimistic and we hope that our mutually profitable relations with Azerbaijan in the investment sector including joint projects will resume upon completion of the crisis", said the ambassador.

According to him, big hopes are laid on the upcoming visit of our Foreign Minister and entrepreneurs who will voice their proposals to Azerbaijani partners on implementation of joint programs to Baku.

"One of the most perspective projects is the creation of the Latvian-Azerbaijani Trade House. The idea is very perspective, especially considering the fact that both Azerbaijan and Latvia have several small and middle producers who find it difficult to enter new markets independently and offer their production considering small volumes of production and export.

We hope that the issue of opening of Trade House will be raised during the meetings of the representatives of the business circles of our countries in Baku and will find its positive solution".
