14 April 2009 [14:15] - TODAY.AZ
Marneuli TV channel will be aired from the Azerbaijanis populated Marneuli region of Georgia to borders with Azerbaijan, the southern part of the Bolnisi region and eastern part of the Tetritzkaro region.
The Marneuli TV (Eastern Georgia) which is aired in the Georgian and Azerbaijani languages expanded a broadcasting network, the TV company's Director Shalva Shubladze told journalists. The company installed 100-watt transmitter, he said.

"The TV company's multinational audience increased from 90,000 to 200,000 people," Shubladze said.

The Marneuli TV company was established on June 1 in 2006. The TV channel presents local news in the Georgian and Azerbaijani languages and news digests in the both languages on Sundays.

Shubladze said developing news programs in the Azerbaijani languages continues, although a grant financing has finished on April 1.

"Local residents want to listen to news in the Azerbaijani languages. Therefore, we continue to develop telecasts in their mother tongue, despite financial problems of the company," Shubladze said.

According to official, over 500,000 Azerbaijanis live in Georgia.
