No official of Turkey has thus yet stated the intention to open borders with Armenia. said deputy executive secretary of Yeni Azerbaijan party, MP Mubariz Gurbanly.
According to him, there were proposals on this issue and talks were held, but resistance of Azerbaijan, determined position on this issue of president of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev as well as protests and serious reaction of the Turkish public and stopped implementation of plans if there were some.

"In fact, the statements of the Turkish President as well as Prime Minister of this country did not mention plans to open borders with Armenia, yet there was information about negotiations underway, and Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan in his statements hinted on possible opening of borders. I think that Turkish powers have again reevaluated everything and realizing the need for ally relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan and decided not to take this step", said he.

According to him, under recent statistical data 30% of Armenian voters consider that borders should be opened only if Turkey recognizes the so-called "Armenian genocide", as if opening of borders is necessary only for Turkey!

"Certainly, this idea is an absurd. Moreover, disinformation of the Armenian mass medias again aims to worsen relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey. Again I would repeat that no officials of Turkey have stated the intention to open borders with Armenia.

There were separate statements that laid basis for due proposals. Yet even if someone had the intention to open borders with Armenia, they yielded after the protests both in Azerbaijan and in Turkey", said MP.
