08 April 2009 [17:11] - TODAY.AZ
"It is necessary for the Armenian and Azerbaijani peoples to prepare for compromises in the resolution of the Karabakh conflict", considers Marie Anne Izler Begin, member of European parliament and head of the delegation of the European parliament on cooperation.

"Through the past ten years when visiting Armenia and Azerbaijan we hear the same positions. Both Armenia and Azerbaijan should make compromises in the Karabakh conflict resolution on the basis of their publics", said she at a press conference in Yerevan Wednesday.

According to Begin, the current quo status cannot last long and the parties should strive to make compromises for the resolution of the conflicts.

The parliamentarian noted that the resolution of the Karabakh conflict has been actively discussed in the past ten years of her being the head of the delegation of the European parliament on cooperation with Armenia.

"It is a great pity that this issue has not been settled through this period but it is important that there are no differences as to the way of the conflict settlement", announced she.
