Issues of economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and India will be discussed at the first session of the intergovernmental commission to be held in New Delhi in the second half of the year, said Indian ambassador to Azerbaijan Debnat Show, according to Novosti-Azerbaijan.

The ambassador said preparation for the upcoming session is underway.

The session is expected to be attended by the Azerbaijani delegation lead by co-chair of the commission, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Huseyngulu Bagirov.

According to Show, India is interested in the development of bilateral relations with Azerbaijan in all economic spheres. Holding a session of the intergovernmental commission will encourage the development and deepening of economic ties between the countries.

"Last year India was the third among the countries exporting Azerbaijani oil. Moreover, Indian companies are greatly interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan in the energy sector and the joint development of oil fields.

I think issues of prospects of the joint field development will be one of the main topics of discussion at the next session", said the ambassador.
