
"The peaceful resolution of the Karabakh conflict must base on the principle of rights of people for self-determination and use of this principle by the Karabakh people", said chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia Ovik Abramyan during the meeting with state secretary of the German Foreign Ministry Gernot Erler.
According to sources in the department for public relations of the Armenian parliament, the speaker also stressed the need for a land border between Armenia and Karabakh, as well as guarantees of security of the population of "NKR".
Abramyan also noted that Armenia supports only the peaceful resolution of the Karabakh conflict and attaches importance to the mediation mission of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs.
"It is necessary to abstain from any steps that may increase tensions in the peace process that is hindered by the bellicose statements of Azerbaijan", noted he.
Abramyan thanked Germany for its unbiased position in this conflict.
IN the context of regional security Abramyan stressed importance of developing Armenian-Turkish relations noting that Armenia is ready to establish and develop these relations without any provisions.
In turn, the state secretary of German Foreign Ministry stressed importance to resume direct contacts between the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan in the process of the conflict resolution.
The meeting was also attended by head of the German-South Caucasus group of Bundestag Stefan Reiche and ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Germany to Armenia Andrea Viktorin, as well as vice speaker of the Armenian of Armenia, head of the Armenian-German parliamentary group of friendship Arevik Petrosyan and deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Karine Kazinyan.
