The Observation Group consisting of 20 parliamentarians from 6 European countries (Spain, Belgium, UK, France, Estonia and Finland) issued a statement on the results of the referendum held in Azerbaijan on March 18, APA reports.

Belgian MP, member of the country’s delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Alan Deshtech announced the statement at the press conference. According to the statement, the referendum was held in active, calm atmosphere, no serious problems were observed in the voting:
“So, we came to the conclusion that the referendum reflects the will of Azerbaijani people.”
The authors of the statement noted the necessity of continuing to establish democratic institutions in Azerbaijan. The Observation Group called on OSCE to send official observation missions in the future elections and referendums.
