"A progressively thinking person will never say that amendments planned to be introduced to the Constitution of Azerbaijan including article 101.5 via referendum contradict to democracy", said Ali Ahmedov, deputy chairman, executive secretary and plenipotentiary representative of the agitation group in his interview to the official website of the Yeni Azerbaijan party.
He said all amendments to the Constitution are aimed to eliminate any restrictions in the will and intentions of people.
"It is not democratic to speak against people's will. Today's opinion of international organizations is based on the fact that they consider the conduction of a referendum to be an internal affair of the country that depends of people's will.
Norms of democracy, adopted throughout the world, have been developing by people. Elections in Azerbaijan are held once in five years and the fact that people trust to one the the same leader several times is not a falsification. The democracy principle allows people to have a right to elect their leader.
Our aim is to introduce to the Constitution such amendments after which the system of human rights and liberties would have improved and all conditions would have been created for Azerbaijan's development", noted Ahmedov.
