Introduction of amendments and alterations to the Azerbaijani Constitution is quite normal and logical, said PACE representative Michael Henkok Friday.

"New constitutions were adopted in the former republics of the union after the USSR collapse, but they were undoubtedly temporary. Therefore, introduction of amendments to these legislative acts is normal and logical", said he.
The European parliamentarian considers it normal, when a democratic society creates conditions for people to be able to elect the country leadership freely.
"If the population of any country wishes to elect one or another person as its president for several times, there is nothing illogical in that", said Hencock.
"The US constitution also has a regulation that one and the same person cannot be elected the US president for more than twice. Yet, I consider that if President Clinton has risked to introduce due amendments to the Constitution of the country, the world would have escaped from Bush's mistakes", noted he.
According to the PACE member, he has twice observed the elections in Azerbaijan and "both times they were held normally".
Hencock accused opposition of Azerbaijan of being inactive in the elections.
"As for the fact that CE sometimes accuses Azerbaijan of having shortcomings during elections, it should be noted that there are shortcomings in all countries, including my native Belgium", noted the parliamentarian.
