Occupation of Khojaly city of Azerbaijan by Armenian armed forces turns 17

According to Day.Az, on the night of February 26 of 1992 Armenian armed formations supported by heavy military technique and personal staff of the 366th motorized rifle regiment of the former USSR, dislocated in Khankendi (Stepanakert) invaded the city of Khojaly.

During the occupation about 613 civilians including 63 children, 106 women and 70 elderly persons were killed in Khojaly within just a night. Terrifying atrocities were committed by the only reason of that Khojaly residents were Azerbaijanis. Almost all of them were tortured and cruelly killed: people were beheaded, their eyes were pulled out and stomachs of pregnant women were cut.

A part of the population that attempted to escape from brutal atrocities, was caught in a trap and terminated. According to Russian human rights center “Memorial”, 200 bodies of Azerbaijanis killed in Khojaly were brought to Aghdam within four days and facts of abomination of tens of bodies were revealed.

181 bodies (130 of men and 51 of women, including 13 children corpses) underwent medicolegal expertise in Aghdam. The expertise revealed that 151 people died due to gunshot wounds, 20 people due to fragmentation wounds, 10 people were killed with blunt things. The human rights center noted the fact of scalping of people alive.
