Novruz Mammadov: "Sometimes some representatives including the [Minsk Group] co-chairs visit the region for just making some pleasing statements"

According to the head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Office Novruz Mammadov, the representatives of the international organisations should compel Armenia to take constructive position on the regulation of the conflict, according to ANS-PRESS.

"There have always been golden opportunities in the resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. But the point is to use them, the head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Office Novruz Mammadov has said in his interview on ANS TV. According to him, the representatives of the international organizations should compel Armenia to take constructive stand in the resolution of the conflict, instead of making statements.

Mammadov further added that theoretically there could be some significant progress in the conflict: "It is always possible. But I wish the mediators in the conflict would avoid of yielding to emotions and making statements solely for the sake of statements. They should realistically approach the attitudes of both sides based on realistic assessment of the peace talks. Only after that their statements might be truthful. I think that sometimes some representatives including the [Minsk Group] co-chairs visit the region for just making some pleasing statements. There are always golden opportunities. But the question is whether Mr. Lenmarker or the co-chairs are doing something to realize those opportunities. That is the point."
