Rasul Guliyev's party not to partake in referendum on amendments to Azerbaijani Constitution

17 February 2009 [15:26] - TODAY.AZ
The Open Society Party has decided not to take part in a referendum on amendments to the Azerbaijani Constitution, said deputy chairman of the party Yagub Abbasov.
He said this decision was made by leader of the party Rasul Guliyev, currently residing in the United States.

"The party considers that currently there is no need for a referendum or amendments to the Constitution. In this connection the party activists have been provided a free choice in voting. Each activist has a right to vote as he considers it necessary", noted he.

Yagub Abbasov also noted that the party will not cooperate with any oppositional agitation group that was registered in the Central Electoral Commission.

Notably, the referendum on amendments to the Constitution is planned to be held on March 18.
