Action of protest near Iranian embassy to Baku put off

16 February 2009 [13:02] - TODAY.AZ
The youth organization of the Civil Solidarity Party has put off the action of protest, planned to be held near the Iranian embassy to Baku on February 17, said head of the steering committee of the party Samir Asadly.
He said the main reason of the delay is that the Baku executive powers has not sanctioned its conduction.

"The mayor's office recommended to us to settle this issue in a civilian way by way of press conference and protest appeals and so on.

Yet the youth organization of the party organizes its action against the fact that Iranian Seher TV channel holds a smeary campaign against chairman of our party, deputy of Milli Medjlis, co-chair of the World Azerbaijanis Congress Sabir Rustamkhanly and against statehood of Azerbaijan, abused intellectuals, scientists and even the president.

By rejecting to sanction the action, the mayor's office is rudely violating article 47 of the Constitution according to which each citizen has a right for freedom of assembly. This response proves that it is indifferent about the activity of this channel against the state", noted he.

Samir Asadly also added that Seher TV channel started to hold a campaign against the morality of Azerbaijani women.
