Azerbaijani opposition appeals to Constitutional Court with request to annul referendum

The Movement "For Karabakh and Republic" held a session on Thursday, said chairman of the Umid party Igbal Aghazade, represented in the movement.
He said the session participants signed and submitted to the Constitutional Court the document with a request to annul decision about holding a referendum.

"The parties discussed the actions they will take after the Constitutional Court responds to them.

Moreover, the movement voiced regred that the union "For democracy" and the National Independence Party of Azerbaijan did not join the movement, thus creating greater opportunities for maneuver", noted he.

Notably, the appeal with a request to annul referendum was also sent to Milli Medjlis on February 3.

The referendum is planned to be held on March 18.

The Azadlyg bloc, comprising the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan Liberal Party, Civil Development Party, as well as the public forum "For Azerbaijan, was the initiator of the civil movement "For Karabakh and Republic". The Democratic Party of Azerbaijan, Umid and Musavat parties as well as a number of NGOs also joined the initiative.
