Azerbaijan general prosecutor's office ratifies plan of measures due to referendum on amendments to Constitution

The General Prosecutor's office of Azerbaijan held a session today.


The session was devoted to the tasks, set before the prosecution bodies for discussion and explanation of the draft act of referendum "On amendments and alterations to the Constitution of Azerbaijan" and conduction of a referendum, reports Day.Az with reference to the press service for Azerbaijan's General Prosecution.

Azerbaijan General prosecutor Zakir Garalov informed the session participants about the remarkable events, which happened in Azerbaijan and in public life in 2008.

Garalov highly evaluated adoption of a decision as of December 26 of 2008 to hold a referendum due to introduction of amendments and alterations to the Constitution of Azerbaijan.

"The prosecution bodies of Azerbaijan are facing an important task of the comprehensive study and explanation to the population the importance of amendments and alterations to the Constitution, which are aimed at improvement of most norms of constitution, more effective protection of human rights and liberties, development of senior bodies, justice, judicial power and local municipal bodies", noted Garalov.

A plan of measures to study the draft act of referendum by the prosecution bodies and explanation to the country's public was ratified later.
