Azerbaijan Communist Party condemns Israel's aggression against Palestine

07 January 2009 [17:21] - TODAY.AZ
Presidium of the Central Committee of the Communist party of Azerbaijan has released a statement due to the current aggression of Israel against Palestine, reports Day.Az with reference to the press service for the party.

The statement says that Israel has committed one more grave crime. Over 500 people were killed and 2,500 civilians, including men, women and children were injured in a result of the fierce fight in the Gaza strip, lasting for the past several days. This is a dierct act of an open state terrorism.

"Considering the reaction of the US leadership, the next bloody aggression of Israel against Palestine is supported by Washington. This could have been expected as the United States are the main source and sponsor of the state terrorism. Being unable to promote US aggression against Iran, Israeli leaders decided to take offensive against the Gaza strip, which turned into the Palestinian ghetto, in the last days of Bush's presidency.

EU, orally condemning Tel Aviv's actions, seems not to be willing to take any practical steps to stop Israel, which is rudely violating all norms of international law. EU can not even think of the economic sanctions against the aggressor or dislocation of peacekeeping troops between Israel and Palestine.

But after the war in the Caucasus European countries and the United States rushed to support Georgia and condemn Russia for its protection of Ossetian people from aggression of "democratic" Georgian powers and dreamed of sending their troops in the Caucasus.

Yet, neither the EU nor the United States display are active towards Palestine, which proves existence of double standards in the world once again", says the statement.

The Party condemns the flagrant aggression of Israel against Palestine.

"We demand to stop violence and execute the resolutions of the world community about withdrawal of occupational forces from Arab lands, return of refugees and creation of a Palestinian state with the center in Eastern Jerusalem. Only under this conditions it will be possible to establish peace in the Near East", says the statement.
