Leaders of Azerbaijani opposition to coordinate actions against amendments to Constitution

Opposition parties of Azerbaijan are against introduction of amendments to the Constitution, said chairman of the Democratic Party of Azerbaijan Sardar Calaloghlu.
He said not only opposition parties but the overall civil society and mass media representatives must demonstrate unity in the issue of referendum.

"When discussions of a referendum were launched in Azerbaijan, opposition leaders agreed to coordinate  their actions. This week the parties will start discussing actions, they will take on this issue. Opposition parties want the introduction of amendments to the Constitution in line with the commitments, the country assumed while joining the Council of Europe", said he.

As for weather the parties are going to hold the protest, Calaloghlu said:

"Before conducting protests, it is necessary to enlighten the people. On the whole, it should be noted that when planning a referendum, the authorities should have hold a dialogue with opposition and only after it appoint the time of its conduction", concluded Calaloghlu.

It should be noted that a referendum on introduction of amendments to the Constitution of Azerbaijan is planned to be held on March 18 of this year.
