Sheikh-al-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazadeh: "Military operations in Palestine were rather political than religious"

We are preparing to appeal to the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) today. We propose to hold an urgent meeting related to ongoing developments in Palestine.

Islamic World should take decisive position on developments in Gaza”, Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office Sheikh-al-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazadeh told APA exclusively.

The appeal covers their participation in the meeting of OIC.

Pashazadeh noted that he first protested developments in Palestine as head of Caucasian Muslims Office.

“We made a statement of protest on behalf of CMO several days ago. We blamed Israel and demanded to stop the war. All problems should be solved peacefully. I did not understand remarks sounded in Nardaran against us. They should know that we had made a statement on this issue and the statement was spread via media”, he added.

Pashazadeh underlined that if Patriarch Alexi II of Moscow and All Russia did not die, the issue would be debated at the meeting of CIS Interreligious Council.

“He was a co-chair of the organization along with me. Interreligious dialogue, which is planned to take place in Baku, will touch upon the ongoing developments in Gaza. We should take our position until that time”, he stressed.

Pashazadeh added that military operations in Palestine were of political character. To him, it is not acceptable that “cradle of democracy” the US supports Israel in this issue.
