My decision to resign from the position of the Musavat party bashqan is not connected with today's political events, said bashqan of Musavat party Isa Qambar.

He said in 2001 at the sixth session of the Musavat party he insisted on introduction of a regulation that one and the same person can not be elected the bashqan of the party or occupy a number of other high positions in Musavat for more than twice to the Charter of our party.
Asked who will be the next leader of the Musavat party, he reminded that the party has an old history and its activity is closely bound to the modern history of Azerbaijan, while its contributions to the attainment of independence and in the sphere of democratization of our country is great.
"I am sure that under the leadership of a new leader, the Musavat party will continue conduction of its main and important mission in the history of Azerbaijan, will fight for the national interests of our country, preservation of its independence and development of democracy in our country", said Qambar.
He said he does not know who will be the next leader of the party.
"Otherwise, I would not differ from different politicians, who appoint their successors", said he.
Isa Qambar noted that he is not for the political technologies, under which a former leader of the party still rules the party via his successor, even being an official ordinary member of the party and this method will not be applied in his party.
As for the idea to eliminate restriction on the election of one and the same person as a president, he said the following:
"In 2001 when I insisted on the adoption of the amendment according to which one and the same person can not be the leader of the party for more than two terms, I though of the need to strengthen the democratic tendencies in the political life of Azerbaijan. I thought that our decision would influence the activity of other political parties and movements in Azerbaijan. And now I claim that a state leader, announcing adherence to democratic values, thinking about the future of his people, must undertake steps, corresponding to the spirit of the 21st century and not the Medieval times", said he.
