04 December 2008 [15:51] - TODAY.AZ
"Co-chairs’ meeting with Azerbaijani and Armenian foreign ministers was the next step toward solution to the conflict. I cannot say any success was reached in this meeting, but I feel a progress", OSCE Minsk Group US Co-Chair Matthew Bryza told journalists, APA correspondent reports from Helsinki. He said there were disagreements between the sides and the negotiations would be continued. Bryza said the presidents’ meeting was possible, but it had not been specified yet. The US co-chair thinks that the presidents felt trust arose between them. The diplomat repeated that they did not recognize Nagorno Karabakh’s independence and he hoped that Nagorno Karabakh Armenians would join the negotiations in some phase. "They are participating in the process as it is. For example we are frequently visiting Karabakh and holding meetings there. But I cannot say when it will happen formally". Bryza said peace agreement between the sides should be based on principle of territorial integrity alongside with the principle of self-determination and demilitarization". Bryza added that the OSCE foreign ministers, as well as ministers of the co-chair countries separately would issue statements on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
