Supreme Court of Azerbaijan dismisses appeal of political scientist Rovshan Novruzoghlu

The Supreme Court finished consideration of the cassation appeal of Rovshan Novruzoghlu, head of the center of combat with international terrorism and corruption, against the verdict of the Baku Appellate court, said defender of the political scientist Natik Mustafayev.

Thus, the Supreme Court dismissed the cassation appeal of Novruzoghlu and upheld the decision of the Appellate Court. The cassation appeal stated the need to pass a verdict of not guilty.

The court was presided by judge Ali Seyfaliyev.

The court of grave crimes notably sentenced Novruzoghlu to 4 years in prison.

He was charged under articles 320.1 (falsification of identity card or any other official document, presenting powers or releasing from duties), 320.2 (use of false documents) and 310 (illegal appropriation of official powers) of the Criminal Code on the basis of the appeal of the Baku Executive Powers to the General Prosecution of Azerbaijan.
