Peter Semneby: "EU supports activity of the OSCE Minsk Group"

"The European Union supports the activity of the OSCE Minsk Group aimed at the soonest resolution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict and it will spare no efforts for the peaceful resolution of the Karabakh conflict," said Peter Semneby, EU special representative in the South Caucasus at the conference "Black Sea security program", launched in Yerevan today.

He said the Black Sea region is important for the European Union, especially in the sense of provision of security and trade and economic cooperation.

"A new geopolitical situation has established in the Black Sea region. Today the region faces the challenges, which can only be resisted by way of a dialogue and one of the EU priorities is the establishment of stability and peace in the region", noted Peter Semneby and added that EU will deepen and strengthen cooperation with the Black Sea countries.

The EU special representative in the South Caucasus welcomed the steps of Armenia and Turkey, aimed at normalization of bilateral relations and noted that good relations between the two countries and opening of the Armenian-Turkish border will promote the development of not only Armenia but also the entire region.
