President of Russian-Armenian Friendship Society: "A key to peace in the Caucasus is in the Nagorno Karabakh mountains and we must not give it to anyone"

20 October 2008 [11:53] - TODAY.AZ
"We must not forget the role and place of the Caucasus in the history of Russia", said president of the Russian-Armenian Friendship Society Viktor Krivopuskov.
He said: "We will do everything possible to prove to the world society and, primarily, politicians, including the Russian leadership that Nagorno Karabakh's independence is obvious.

Though we say that Nagorno Karabakh has no precedent, the precedent here is obvious and it has been proved by 20 years of struggle not only by means of confrontation, but also by means of creation. Komsomolskaya pravda has recently wrote a confession, perhaps, for the whole world society, saying that Karabakh is aware that it has nothing to lose and, therefore, it will never give up the planned path.

Even Parsian shahs were unable to resettle the Karabakhis. First of all, Karabakhis will not allow it, and second, Karabakh's friends, primarily Russia, will defend these interests. We must not forget the role and place of Karabakh in the history of Russia. A key to peace in the Caucasus is in the Nagorno Karabakh mountains and we must not give it to anyone".

He reported about the intention to create a Russian language center in Khankendi, equip it with scientific and methodical literature and advanced technologies for teachers to get methodical aid in organization of the educational process.

"We are mostly interested in the development of humanitarian and cultural ties with the people of Nagorno Karabakh, as part of Armenian people", said Krivopuskov.

He also noted that preparations for publication of several books on the history of Nagorno Karabakh is held "despite false interpretations, which appeared both in Azerbaijan and in other CIS states".

"We must defend our history effectively", said Krivopuskov.
