CE observer: "90% of votes, gained by Ilham Aliyev, is the choice of the Azerbaijani people"

16 October 2008 [16:50] - TODAY.AZ
"The presidential elections were well-organized in Azerbaijan," observer of the Council of Europe, British MP Mike Hancock told journalists, APA reports.
Hancock said he had observed the elections in the polling stations, and everything was well. Taking a stance on Ilham Aliyev’s victory the international observer linked it to the weakness of the opposition in Azerbaijan.

"That’s why Ilham Aliyev got most of the votes. Ilham Aliyev’s gaining 90 percent cannot be considered the result of undemocratic elections. This is the choice of the Azerbaijani people", he said.
