Ilham Aliyev attends opening ceremony of new underground station in Baku - UPDATED

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev took a trip by metro on Thursday.

According to Azerbaijan, after the opening ceremony of the Nasimi metro station, the head of the state along with head of metropolitan Taghi Ahmedov and metro employees took a trip to the Elmler Akademiyasi metro station.

I.Aliyev and his accompaniments were in the first carriage and the metro passengers were in the remaining carriages.

President got out at the Elmler Akademiyasi metro station.

At the exit of the station, people, who gathered there, applauded at the President. I.Aliyev welcomed the people, said goodbye to the head of the metropolitan and metropolitan employees and continued his way by car.

According to Day.Az, the opening involved officials of the country.

The President was informed of the construction works, held at the Nasimi metro station.

The new station is a continuation of the Azi Aslanov - Memar Ajemi section. Baku metropoliten started functioning in 1967 and it has recently accounted for 20 stations.
