"It would be better to ask the US ambassador to our country Anne Derse about the destination of $3 mln, allocated by the US government for assistance in the organization and conduction of presidential elections in Azerbaijan", said famous political scientist Zardush Alizadem asked about the destination of funds, USA have allocated for conduction of fair and transparent presidential elections in Azerbaijan.

Alizade said that most part of these funds were allocated to the Central Election Commission and the police and the smallest part of these funds went to the civil society.

"Speaking about percentage, 90% of US-allocated funds for conduction of fair and transparent elections in Azerbaijan went to our government and only 10% of funds went to the civil society. Everything is complicated here, as well, for the NGO, which received funds for monitoring of the upcoming presidential elections, is the Election Monitoring Commission, led by Anar Mamedli.

But, as is known, the registration of this NGO has been annulled. Now, talks are held on the creation of a new coalition to hold monitoring of the presidential elections in Azerbaijan. We will see how it ends", said Alizade.

Speaking of financing of the election campaign of presidential candidates, the political scientist noted that the US government has not allocated funds for it.

"I have watched the process of all elections in the modern history of Azerbaijan since the moment of independence and, therefore, I can state that the presidential candidates have never been financed by non-Azerbaijani powers from abroad", concluded Alizade.
