Fazail Aghamaly: "Talks about a new coalition of the Azerbaijani opposition create big doubts"

25 August 2008 [14:22] - TODAY.AZ
"The idea of cooperation between Azerbaijani opposition within a new coalition will not be effective", said Ana Veten party chairman, MP Fazail Aghamaly.
He said the talks about a new coalition of opposition are doubtful.

"The coalition of opposition is practically real, but there is no guarantee that it can influence the process of presidential elections".

Today, we often hear that the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan is interested in the creation of this coalition. Yet the statements of the party, including, the opposition leaders, that the elections will be undemocratic, prove that they have no consistent position.

These opposition leaders can not control the election process and this demonstrates that they will not participate in the elections. Moreover, they do not want to be represented in the Central Election Commission. In this case, which actions of the opposition can be implied?

In the reality, the presidential elections will be transparent and democratic and no clashes are expected", noted Aghamaly.
