Qudrat Hasanquliyev: "The coalition of Azerbaijani opposition has no prospects"

21 August 2008 [11:49] - TODAY.AZ
"The idea of creating a single coalition by Azerbaijani opposition is not successful", said chairman of the United Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan, Qudrat Hasanquliyev, who nominated his candidacy for presidential elections.
He said the coalition, created by several oppositional leaders, has no prospects and it does not aim to influence the results of presidential elections.

"These opposition leaders have created so many numerous coalitions, blocs and unions that there is already no need for this coalition. Perhaps, before presidential elections, these opposition leaders will hold any arrangements, but they won't be able to influence the election campaign or frustrate the presidential elections.

By their non-participation in the presidential elections, these people proved once again that they do not want to come to powers legally. In this situation, it is hard to believe that opposition may unite.

I always said that international organizations seem to call on opposition to unite, therefore, they are negotiating on formation of a coalition", concluded Hasanquliyev.

It should be noted that the idea of creating a new coalition was put forward by the parties, which rejected participation in the presidential elections in Azerbaijan.
