21 July 2008 [14:23] - TODAY.AZ
"Until Azerbaijan is criticizing the aсtions of the Minsk Group on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement, we can be calm", said Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan.
"After the first meeting with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev I had an impression that peaceful means of the resolution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict have not been exhausted yet", said the Armenian President at a press conference Monday.

The first meeting of the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan took place in Saint Petersburg on June 7.

According to the head of the Armenian state, he got an impression that Aliyev is also inclined for continuation of talks. Sargsyan expressed confidence that the talks may promote resolution of the Karabakh problem.

Commenting on the resentment of the Azerbaijani side over the activity of the OSCE Minsk Group, Sargsyan noted that "until Azerbaijan is criticizing the actions of the Minsk Group, we can remain calm".

According to the President, it is a small ruse of the Azerbaijani side for mediators to soften its positions or meet Azerbaijan's demand.

"It is their business and I do not think it will promote the peaceful negotiation process", announced Sargsyan.

At the same time, the President confirmed readiness to continue talks on the basis of Madrid proposals, considering that the OSCE Minsk Group format may be effective.

At the same time, the Armenian President noted that until the peace treaty is signed, at least two officials in the state- president and the defense minister should consider that hostilities may start even tomorrow".

"According to Sargsyan, efforts are made in this direction and the most powerful factor is the Armenian army and the country's armed troops. The Armenian President said he will spare no efforts for development of the army and armed forces.
