Azerbaijan is gearing up for electronic system in elections

The Central Election Commission (CEC) told APA-Economics that State Automated Information System for Elections employed in previous presidential, parliamentary and municipal elections will be used in this year’s elections too.

The system allows transferring information from polling stations to constituency election commissions and onto the CEC data center.

Also, it enables to observe voting process and input protocols, final reports, names of candidates, political parties and voters into the database.

The CEC has recently carried out several pilot projects in local commissions.

The Council of Europe pushed for the introduction of a single model of electronic system in the member states but there is no agreement on the final version although member states sent their proposals.

After e-signature and cryptography mechanism is launched, the completion of automated voting process will be achieved and this will allow to promptly updating the public about the voting process and results.
