EU to put forward definite proposals on expansion of cooperation with Azerbaijan before spring of 2009

In spring of 2009 the European Union will present definite proposals and potentials for expansion of cooperation with Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus and Armenia, said speaker of EU commissioner on external policy Christian Homan.
She said in line with "the eastern initiative", officially supported by the member-states last Friday, the European Union will not hold bilateral talks of the Azerbaijan-EU format.

"There is a European policy of neighborhood for this purpose. Eastern initiative will develop on par with it. Subsequently, the process of the country's integration in the framework of "the eastern initiative" will be held in the regional format for the countries of GUAM, Belarus and Armenia to develop their relations with the European Union.

The form of the expansion of the cooperation is not defined yet. There is a proposal to develop the free trade area and annul visa regime".

Homan announced that these projects will be defined in spring of the next year.
