The amendments, introduced to the law "On Freedom of Assembly" are more of cosmetic nature and do not change the existing state, said one of the leaders of Azerbaijan's Popular Front Party Qulamhuseyn Alibeyli, commenting on the introduction of alterations to the law "On Freedom of Assembly" by the Milli Medjlis.
The executive bodies still have a right to restrict freedom of assembly, said the opposition representative. Thus, the authorities can change the routes of mass actions holding, annul them, if their conduction coincides with the events of international of state importance.
According to Alibeyli, the altered law will allow the Baku city administration to continue the "vicious practice of prohibiting meetings in the center of the capital".
