30 May 2008 [14:18] - TODAY.AZ
A regular session of the Center of Democratic Election, functioning in Azerbaijan, was held today.
Azadlyg party chairman Ahmed Oruj told Day.Az that the session participants considered sociopolitical situation in the country before the presidential elections, as well as recent amendments and alterations to the Electoral Code, currently discussed in the Azerbaijani parliament.

"The parties, represented in the center, assess these amendments and alterations to the Electoral Code as anti-democratic. Attempts, aimed at creation of a democratic situation in the country, were undertaken before the elections several years ago, while now they are not observed,

The parties, represented in our center and in Milli Medjlis will try to introduce our position at today's session", noted he.

Oruj also added that the Sabail district court has not yet responded to the claim of the party, filed due to the failure to allot a site for meeting conduction to them.

Notably, the Center of Democratic Elections includes the National Democratic Party of Azerbaijan, Classical Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan, Great Creation Party, Single Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan, Green Party of Azerbaijan, Great Azerbaijan Party, Tekkamul, Azadlyg party and Open Society Party.
