Russian parliamentarian Alexei Ostrovsky: "It will be difficult for Russia to influence the status of "Nagorno Karabakh Republic" until the leaderships of Armenia and Azerbaijan are ready for the talks"

Russia is ready to take an active part in the process on changing the status of "Nagorno Karabakh Republic".




Alexey Ostrovsky,chairman of the committee of the State Duma for CIS and public relations, noted commenting on the situation around unrecognized "Nagorno Karabakh Republic" that  Russia is for negotiations between two sides like in case with the settlement of Transdniestrian problem.

"Until the leaderships of Armenia and Azerbaijan are ready to sit at the negotiation table in a neutral area in Moscow or in any other country, it will be difficult for Russia to influence the status of "Nagorno Karabakh Republic".

But we are ready to take an active part in case of mutual agreement of Baku and Yerevan", Ostrovsky said.

The head of the committee reminded that parliamentary hearings "On the state of conflicts settlement on the territory of the CIS and appeals to Russia about recognition of Abkhazia, South Ossetia and  Transdniestria" will be held in the State Duma on March 13.

Ostrovky announced that though the issue  on "Nagorno Karabakh Republic" is not on the agenda, "each participant will have a right to speak about what he considers necessary to discuss".
