EU delegation to visit Azerbaijan

A delegation of the European Union led by Slovenian Foreign Minister Dmitri Rupel will visit Azerbaijan on February 4.

Novosti Azerbaijan reports that the due information was provided by the press service for the French Embassy, which represents the country, chairing the European Union, in Azerbaijan.

The visit aims at participating in the ceremony on the opening of the office of the European Commission in Azerbaijan. The press service reported that following the ceremonial part the EU delegation will meet with Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Elmar Mamedyarov in the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan. A press conference will be held upon completion of the meeting.

The office of the European Commission will locate in Icheri Sheher in the office building of Europe House, coordinating the activities of Azerbaijan with the European Union.

The delegation of the European Union will also include the commissary of the European Commission for External Ties Benita Ferrero Waldner and EU special representative for South Caucasus Peter Semneby.

The opening will be attended by officials of Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry, ambassador of EU member-states to Azerbaijan and mass media representatives.

The EU delegation will also be received by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. It will leave for Georgia upon completion of the meetings in Baku.
