Safa Mirzoyev: "The Election code of Azerbaijan will be amended"

The EU experts are expected to visit Azerbaijan in early February.

The due announcement was made by Safa Mirzoyev, head of Milli Medjlis Secretariat, Day.Az reports.

"We have reached an agreement on a number of paragraphs and if this meeting is successful, we will present a new draft law to the leadership of the country", he noted.

S.Mirzoyev announced that the planned amendments and alterations aim to improve the Electoral Code and settle disputes in the election period and after elections.

"As for the principle of formation of electoral commissions, the CoE and OSCE experts do not have definite proposals on the issue. The existent electoral commission creates equal conditions for all participants of the elections.

I think the electoral commissions should not be formed by the principle of political title. They should have a neutral basis.

Professionals, who are well aware of the Election Code, should be involved. But this is my personal point of view. The main thing is that the working law helps conduct free and democratic elections", Mirzoyev considers.
