Chickens and poultry products sold illegally in Ganja, Azerbaijan

"Though the sale of chickens and poultry products has been banned, it is not observed on the Ganja markets. No one pays attention to the warnings about avian flu"

The due announcement was made by deputy chief of Ganja Veterinarian Department, Imamverdi Bayramov.

He announced that the market administration and inspectors had been warned with no further effect.

He said blood samples of 130 poultry heads were taken in 2007 with no avian flu virus revealed in any of them.

Bayramov reminded that avian flu had been detected in the countries, neighboring Azerbaijan, and for this purpose the Ministry of Agriculture holds discussions for taking measures.
