Imprisoned reporter of Azadlyg newspaper goes on hunger strike

The imprisoned reporter of the Azadlyg newspaper Mirza Sakit is going on a hunger strike, as reported by the Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety.

Reporter's wife Rena Zahidova says, M.Sakit informed the administration of the prison about the hunger strike and a room was allotted for him for the purpose.

"M.Sakit said today he demands his transfer to the inner prison, resignation of the chairman of the Council for Press Aflatun Amashov and a meeting with the Ombudsman. He also demands from Nazim Alekperov, chief of the penitentiary service of the Ministry of Justice, to respond to his appeals regarding the transmission to another correctional ward", Zahidova noted.

She added that M.Sakit feels bad, having problems with heart and еру right leg.
