Samad Seyidov: "We do not hinder Edward O’Hara’s visit"

"This session was very important to us, as presidential elections will be held in our country this year. Constructive cooperation between Azerbaijan and Council of Europe should be continued", head of Azerbaijani delegation to PACE Samad Seyidov said.

Commenting on his appointment the vice-president of PACE he noted that this is the honor and great responsibility at the same time.

He also gave informed about the activity of Azerbaijani delegation in the PACE Committees.

“We continue our work in all committees. As you know, the Political Committee has a special subcommittee on Nagorno Garabagh. Head of the Subcommittee Lord Russell-Johnston will visit Azerbaijan on February 7-9. Though issue on Azerbaijan was reviewed in the Monitoring Committee, there were not long debates. Co-rapporteurs will visit Azerbaijan soon. Committee on Culture, Science and Education also held a meeting. Rapporteur of this Committee Edward O’Hara is also expected to visit Azerbaijan this year. We do not hinder Edward O’Hara’s visit. Doors of Azerbaijan are open for him if he wants to visit our country. But all the visits should be carried out in the framework of international rules and principles allowed and adopted by Azerbaijan,” he said.

Samad Seyidov stressed that PACE January session was successful for Azerbaijan.
