Touching upon the New Year speech of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, who ruled out the self-appointment of Nagorno Garabagh, which makes agreement almost impossible, the US mediator said: "We are aware of this position of Azerbaijan. Yet our task is to find a compromise during the negotiation process".

He spoke for the necessity to support the personal representative of the OSCE chairman-in-pffoce Andjey Kaspshik in the preservation and strengthening of the ceasefire regime in the region of Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict.
