Musavat Party declares 2008 the year of Republic

Various arrangements have already been prepared in this connection, as reported by the leader of the Musavat Party Isa Gambar.

"We have declared the year of 2008 the year of Republic at the general assembly of the Mejlis of the party, as next year we will mark the 90th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, established in 1918.

The Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, despite its short exisence-just two years- played a great role as the first republic among Eastern countries. This day is twice as dear for as, because the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was founded by a great personality, one of the founders of the Musavat Party, and its idea-monger, Mamed Emin Rasulzade.

His contribution to the foundations of Azerbaijan's democracy and independent republic are invaluable, being always in the center of attention of the Azerbaijani people", I.Gambar said.

According to him, the party will hold exhibitions, round tables, press conferences and other arrangements devoted to the 90th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic through the whole year of 2008.

The calendar plan of these arrangements has already been prepared.
