Sardar Jalaloglu: “Human rights are widely violated in Azerbaijan”

08 December 2007 [15:55] - TODAY.AZ
“Legal nihilism is ruling over Azerbaijan”, announced the representative of the Azerbaijan Democratic Party, Sardar Jalaloglu.
“On the eve of the International Day of Human Rights’ Protection, I consider it necessary to stress the importance of human rights for establishment of civil society and democratic development in Azerbaijan”, the leader of the Democratic Party said.

He considers that human rights are widely violated in Azerbaijan, which is a blame of not only the government but also the citizens, who are mostly unaware of their rights. “Even those, who are aware of their rights, are not able to use them”, he noted.

“In the result, people, who lose their jobs, do not even suspect that their rights to work and live worthy life and others are violated”, the chairman of the Democratic Party said.

S.Jalaloglu considers that the problem of legal nihilism of the citizens of Azerbaijan must be settled by the government by informing the citizens via mass media. This process must also involve intergovernmental organizations, parties and international organizations to arrange conferences, seminars, trainings and mass activities.
