25 May 2007 [13:15] - TODAY.AZ
State commission to be established soon will uncover not only massacres committed in Guba, but also all the massacres committed by Armenians in Azerbaijan.

That Commission will investigate genocide committed by Armenians against Azerbaijanis, National Sciences Academy correspondent member, director of History Institute, parliamentarian Yagub Mahmudov told.

He stated that the places where Bolshevik troops led by Stepan Shaumyan of Armenian descent committed massacres in various regions of Azerbaijan are clear, APA reports.

"Dashnak(Armenian)-Bolshevik brigands committed massacres in all the regions of Azerbaijan by the order of Shaumyan. One of these massacres was committed in Lankaran. Armenians entered the region and killed people in the valley of the Kyur. The people trying to escape hid in Girovgala. But, they were also surrounded and massacred," he said.

"We should not hurry in this case, but we should not delay it too. Because history proves that these massacres were committed in March-April, 1918, we have documents, protocols of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic," he said.

Parliamentarian said that sex and age of human remains found with the help of medical examination should be defined first of all.

"Mass graves in Guba and Neftchala appeared by chance. But State Commission to be established soon should carry out excavation, discover all mass graves remained under the soil," he said.

Mahmudov also commented on burying discovered corpses according to Muslim ritual. He said that the found remains should be protected and exhibited in museum in an open air.

"Let every tourist visiting Azerbaijan see Armenian vandalism. Burial of found corpses is to bury history," he said.

The director of the History Institute stated that scientific delegation composed of historians, archeologist and ethnographers will visit Guba next month, and the final reference of scientists will be publicized as soon as they return.
