Destruction of Shusha historical monuments by Armenians aims to wipe out Azerbaijani signs in Karabakh

08 May 2007 [13:44] - TODAY.AZ
The general plan of Shusha was worked out in 1750 on the initiative on Panahali khan of Karabakh khanate.

Armenians has no power to sweep this plan. Because it requires destruction of 17 ancient Shusha settlements completely, head of Azerbaijani Community of Karabakh Nizami Bahmanov told journalists.

He said the reports on the new general plan of Shusha are another provocation of Armenians. He said the policy of Armenization of Shusha will fail.

"Most of 371 historical monuments in Shusha have been destroyed. Armenia wants to sweep Azerbaijani signs in Shusha. Armenians should remember that they efforts to present Shusha as an ancient Armenian city will not have results," Bahmanov stressed.

Nizami Bahmanov commented on the negotiation process on Karabakh too, APA reports.

"Azerbaijani President's activity towards the settlement of the Karabakh problem makes us to be optimistic. We think Armenian authorities' statements are absurd. These statements take into account internal policy of Armenia."

He called on Diaspora organizations to actively support Azerbaijan states' efforts on this way.
